The business transactions supported by the Personal Lines Standards are:
  • Audit messages
  • Claims notification & progress
  • Cover note issue notifications
  • Engineers’ fee invoices (motor engineer to insurer)
  • Engineers’ reports (motor engineer to insurer)
  • Mid-term adjustments
  • New business (*)
  • Policy status changes
  • Premium finance instructions (broker to finance provider)
  • Premium reconciliations
  • Renewals e.g. invitation, pre-renewal query, alteration of terms
  • Vehicle inspection requests (insurer to motor engineer)

*The personal lines Standards are published in EDI and XML formats. EDI messages are used primarily by brokers to place business with an insurer (they do not support quotations, which have traditionally been handled by broker system providers). The more recently published XML and JSON versions support both quotation and placement.
